“petali di un haiku” for solo piano

The “petali di haiku” collection consists of three track of short duration. Each piece opens a small expressive world like, moreover, the poetic form of haiku. The molecule, the common seed of the three tracks, is the soft and uterine third interval (major and minor) declined in various timbre possibities.

The first piece, “I… Tension casee …”, is a progressive thickening and accumulation of tension; five are the excited speeds of the very few circulating sound elements; each of these is interrupted, lashed by chordal columns of which a harmonic shadow remains. At the end of the last accumulation, the sound are eclipsed in the sound space made tense by the sudden movement of the pianist on the entire space of the keyboard.

The second piece, “II.”, may seem like a free improvisation but also in this case the process is that of intensification: in the center a minor third from which sounds and sways gradually branch out. In ultimis, the third piece, the engine of the pleading, undergoes its own tonal transfiguration.

The third piece, “III.Se non fosse sole, sarebbe notte” (if it weren’t sun, it would be night), it brings two deeply, indeed existentially different, characters into a dialectical relationship. Taking a cue from Heraclitus’ fragment KD B99, εί μή ήλιος ήν, εύφροσύνη άν ήν, the implied “Princilpe”, once taken shape in the sun, its opposite is already in power, the night. In the same way it makes one thing exclude the other oppsite to it.
