Honorable mention on the ICCTCP 2020 for his work “3 piano miniatures” for solo piano

Apostolos Siokis was born in Trikala, Thessaly (Greece) on March 23, 1985. He graduated from the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics of the University of Patras in 2009. He received his Masters Degree and his PhD from the same department in 2011 and 2017 respectively. Along with his studies at the University of Patras he studied music. Apostolos studied Harmony, Counterpoint, Fugue and Composition under the guidance of Victor Nikolaou. He has written music for theater and has participated in numerous composition competitions.

“3 Piano Miniatures” for solo piano

3 Piano miniatures is a piece in three movements for solo piano, with its entirety lasting around 3.50 minutes, following a fast, slow, fast form. The first miniature is a vibrant movement following an arch form (ABCBA). The second miniature is a slower movement built around a single melodic pattern containing syncopation. The third and final miniature is a faster movement based on the short melodic idea which opens the movement.nd modality).
