Honorable mention to the International Composition competition
“The contemporary guitar 2018″ for for his work for guitar “Four miniatures” 

Konstantin Bliokh is an author of more than 40 compositions, mostly for classical guitar, ensembles with a guitar, and vocals. Among them are: a chamber opera, a suite for guitar and strings; two guitar quartets, five guitar sonatas; five suites for guitar; two song cycles; trios, duets, and a number of separate pieces.

Some of these pieces received awards at the international composition competitions:

  • The First Prize at the 4th Acerra Guitar Composition Competition (Italy, 2015);
  • The Second Prize at the composition competition of the Italia Guitar Society (Italy, 2007);
  • Honorable Mention at the Miami International GuitART Festival (USA, 2018);
  • Honour Diploma at the International Guitar Composition Competition “Suoni di Legno” (2009).

A number of compositions have been published by Editions Berben (Italy), Fuzeau Editions (France), and Editions Esarmonia (Italy). Compositions of Konstantin Bliokh are often performed in Ukraine and abroad. The opera “Pugachyov” was staged at the Kharkov State Theatre of Ukrainian Drama in 2001.

“Four miniatures” for solo guitar

This is a set of short pieces in different styles (minimalistic meditative “Prelude”, bright Spanish-like “Impromptu”, dissonant “Chimes”, and Irish-like “Dance”), which explore a non-standard scordatura (the 2nd string b and the 4th string eb) and Eb key of the guitar.
