Borislava Taneva

Piano, composition

Born in Sofia in a family of musicians. Graduated in the Middle Musical School – Sofia magna cum laude. In 1989 graduates the National Musical Academy “Pancho Vladigerov” – Sofia, subjects piano and composition. From 1989 since now, lectures piano in the National Musical Academy. From 1990 to 1993 lectures piano in New Conservatory of Thessaloniki – Greece.

She has performed multiple recitals in Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, France, Litwania, Israel, etc. She has been soloist for all Bulgarian orchestras, as for the Philharmonic Orchestra of Thessaloniki and the Athens Radioorchestra, and also took part in various chamber formations. She performed for recordings in the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR), in the Bulgarian National TV (BNT) and also in the greek television ERT-3. She is the laureate of 8 national and international competitions. (TIM – 1998 – Roma – Grand Prix, Caltanissetta – 1996 – First price).

In 1999/2000 year aqured scholarship from the Italian Ministry of External Affairs and specialised contemporary music with lecturer Prof. Cherie Broome in Milano, where she also performed multiple concerts. Since 2000 year conducts a class in Interpretation of Contemporary music in Athens. She conducted a various musical seminaries such as: “Elementary Pedagogics”, Problems in Interpretating piano concerts”, “Interpretation of contemoprary works”, etc.

In 2002 year was invited to lecture in the New Bulgarian University and the National Music School – Sofia. Paticipated in many festivals among which are the “Sofia Musical Weeks”; “March Musical Days”; The Balkan forum – Serres (Greece); The musical forum – Kefalonia (Greece); the Delphy festival; The Festival of Chamber Music in Tortoreto (Italy); the Musical Festival “SAN BENEDETTO”; Musicexchange – Sofia; Pianissimo – Contemporary Piano Music Festival; etc.

For the first time in Bulgaria shows in 9 concerts integral prformance of the piano sonattes of Joseph Haydn. At present records for the BNR the piano works of Alberto Ginastera and Alfred Schnittke. Composes chamber music, music for children, music for puppet theatres, cinema. In cooperation with Children’s Vokal Group “Bon-Bon” has over 30 songs and videos for Bulgarian National TV, and authors an audio-cassette with children songs. At the present time she works over a book for piano beginners. A member of the Union Of the Bulgarian Composers.
