Kochi Gallery Takes Art Out of the White Cube and Into a Home Setting
A new digital art gallery in Kochi is redefining how people experience art by taking it out of traditional “white cube” gallery spaces and into a home-like setting. Dubbed At Home With LMSA, this show displays artworks not in a formal gallery, but in a residential environment, making the experience more personal, relaxed and accessible for visitors.
The debut exhibition features works by four Kerala artists and aims to break down barriers between contemporary art and everyday life. Instead of placing art behind walls in institutional spaces, this format brings creative expression into familiar spaces — so visitors can connect with the works in a setting that feels like a living space.
By challenging the idea that art must only be seen in conventional galleries, the At Home With LMSA project encourages people to interact with art in new ways. It also reflects broader trends in contemporary art, where artists and curators experiment with non-traditional venues and formats to reach wider audiences and make art more inclusive.
This initiative adds to Kochi’s rich art scene, which already includes major exhibitions like the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, one of Asia’s largest contemporary art events, drawing global attention and visitors to the city.
