Treasures of Tiffany: Icons of American Design

M.S. Rau will unveil the highly anticipated exhibition “Treasures of Tiffany: Icons of American Design” on October 25, 2025, at its gallery in New Orleans, Louisiana. This rare and significant show will also be available virtually on msrau.com, running through January 3, 2026. The exhibition, free and open to the public, celebrates the extraordinary artistry of the Tiffany family, showcasing their profound impact on American design and craftsmanship.
A Celebration of Tiffany’s Legacy
“Treasures of Tiffany: Icons of American Design” offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore the remarkable works of Tiffany Studios, featuring over 80 iconic pieces from this legendary American family. The exhibition highlights Louis Comfort Tiffany’s groundbreaking contributions to art glass, stained-glass windows, and decorative arts, as well as the exquisite silver and jewellery crafted by his father, Charles Lewis Tiffany, who revolutionized luxury craftsmanship with Tiffany & Co.
Among the incredible pieces featured in the exhibition is a one-of-a-kind silver ewer that was owned by Abraham Lincoln. This piece offers a glimpse into the unparalleled artistry and craftsmanship for which Tiffany & Co. became known. Visitors will also see rare Tiffany windows, including a monumental six-panel window adorned with an extraordinary mermaid motif, and iconic Tiffany lamp designs, which are celebrated for their beauty and innovation.
Rare and Magnificent Works
In addition to Tiffany’s famous lamps and windows, the exhibition will present a selection of jewellery pieces, including the Chrysanthemum pattern and Jean Schlumberger’s “Bird on a Rock” brooch, both known for their intricate designs and symbolic beauty. Tiffany’s famed silver creations will also be on display, such as Tiffany & Co. Silver Punchbowl with Bird and Silver Gilt Finger Bowls, exemplifying the company’s long-standing commitment to luxury and fine craftsmanship.
The exhibition also delves into the visionary lives of the Tiffany family, showcasing their incredible passion for perfection and beauty. Louis Comfort Tiffany, for example, was famously known for smashing any glass he deemed imperfect, ensuring that only the most breathtaking works made it into his stained-glass windows and lamps.
The Tiffany Family’s Impact
The Tiffany dynasty left an indelible mark on the world of design, shaping both American luxury and artistic expression. Charles Tiffany transformed luxury craftsmanship by acquiring nearly one-third of the French Crown Jewels for Tiffany & Co., which marked a pivotal moment in the history of American luxury. Louis Comfort Tiffany then elevated decorative arts, creating innovative designs that remain iconic to this day.
Bill Rau, third-generation owner of M.S. Rau, stated,
“The Tiffany dynasty represents the pinnacle of American artistry. Charles Tiffany revolutionized luxury craftsmanship with a brand so iconic that it’s still world-renowned today. His son, Louis Comfort, transformed fine and decorative arts with stunning innovations that were, and still are, in a class all their own.”
