India Art Fair Offers “New Way of Seeing Art” Through Dialogue and Perception

The India Art Fair 2026 in New Delhi is being celebrated not just as a marketplace for artworks, but as a space that encourages visitors to rethink how they see and experience art. The fair emphasised creative perception, dialogue and engagement beyond traditional exhibits, encouraging people to explore how art reflects lived realities and lived experiences.

Opening the fair, director Jaya Asokan said that global attention on South Asian art is growing fast, and the India Art Fair is well-positioned to meet this moment with expansive programming that invites reflection and conversation across cultures and artistic disciplines.

Across the event, artists and designers are presenting works that invite active interaction and interpretation, creating an environment in which visitors are encouraged to look beyond canvas and form their own connections — aligning with ideas like Bridget Riley’s belief that “perception is the medium” itself.

This year’s edition also features a wide range of curated talks, site-specific installations, and thematic exhibits that blur boundaries between visual art, lived experience and creative practice — reinforcing the fair’s role as a leading platform for modern and contemporary art from India and the broader South Asian region.
