“Being Hyper Human” at Venkatappa Art Gallery Explores Life in the Digital Age

The photography exhibition “Being Hyper Human” has opened at the Venkatappa Art Gallery in Bengaluru, offering a thought-provoking look at how digital imagery shapes human experience in the modern world. The show is a collaborative project between the Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York, featuring works by students, alumni and faculty from both institutions.
Running for two weeks from 7 February 2026, the exhibition delves into how people today increasingly live in a “hyper-image” world — where performing for the camera and engaging with digital representations has become as ordinary as simply observing life itself. It challenges visitors to reflect on what it means to exist as both a human and an image, especially as social media and digital platforms intensify our connection to visual culture.
Curators and participants raise critical questions about identity, perception and reality, asking visitors to think about how images influence our sense of self, memory and connection to others — and what happens when the picture we see of ourselves differs from lived experience. Through its cross-continental dialogue, the exhibition also highlights the power of global artistic collaboration to explore shared cultural questions in the digital age.
The show remains open to the public through 20 February 2026, inviting art lovers, photographers and curious visitors to engage with contemporary visual narratives that reflect life at the intersection of humanity, technology and imagery.
