Arnawaz Vasudev Charities to Host Biannual Art Camp at Cholamandal Artists’ Village

Arnawaz Vasudev Charities is organising its biannual art camp at the Cholamandal Artists’ Village in Chennai from 21 to 24 February 2026. The four-day event provides a supportive environment where selected artists can live, work and experiment together without the pressures of commercial expectations.

This year’s camp features five participating artists, each given accommodation, art materials and workspace for creative exploration and peer exchange. The aim is to encourage individual artistic voices and experimentation, allowing artists to push boundaries and develop their practice in a dedicated, collaborative setting.

Founded in 1989, Arnawaz Vasudev Charities has supported nearly 200 artists over the past 25 years, helping emerging and mid-career visual artists focus on innovation and artistic growth. The charity’s programmes are known for removing barriers to sustained creative engagement and fostering dialogue within India’s art community.

Cholamandal Artists’ Village, where the camp is held, is one of India’s most significant artist communities. Established in the 1960s, it has been a centre of modern and contemporary art practice in South India, nurturing generations of painters and sculptors and serving as a living space where art-making and daily life coexist.
