French Artist Thomas Henriot Explores Light, Time and Memory in New Delhi Show

French artist Thomas Henriot is presenting a solo exhibition titled “The Weight of Light” in New Delhi, where his large-scale ink drawings take centre stage in an immersive conversation with light, memory and space.
Henriot, born in Besançon in 1980, works primarily with Chinese ink on long rolls of Japanese paper. His drawings are made in a single continuous gesture, creating lines that shift in thickness, depth and rhythm — reflecting both the physical motion of drawing and the passage of time captured in each piece. The works often respond directly to places and environments that have shaped his artistic journey.
The exhibition, held at Art Centrix Space in Vasant Kunj, reflects Henriot’s years of travel and observation, weaving landscapes, architectural influences and personal experience into fluid, meditative visuals. The lines in his work evoke not just forms but movement — showing how light and memory can be traced through simple, evolving marks on paper.
Alongside ink drawings, the show also includes collaborative textile pieces where Henriot’s flowing lines have been re-interpreted into woven structures with threads of silk, cotton and gold. These works transform the drawn line into tactile, shimmering surfaces that change with the viewer’s movement and light.
Henriot’s work has been shaped by international residencies and his deep engagement with locales around the world. In showing these new works, he invites the audience to see drawing as not just a static image but a record of time, motion and presence.
